The GranSport’s enormous success came courtesy of its exceptional performance. This prompted Maserati into offering its clients a sportier and more aggressive cabrio version. The new model is the most powerful spider in its class and retains the original vehicle’s punchy looks in a package that allows the driver to enjoy the thrills of open-air driving.
From a technical point of view, the vehicle is identical to the GranSport in all but the engine, now a 4244 cm³ V8 unit that delivers 400 bhp and 452 Nm of maximum torque. One other modification is the introduction of aerodynamic and stylistic elements that differentiate it from the traditional Spyder.
The GranSport Spyder is solely available with an electro-hydraulic six-speed ‘Cambiocorsa’ gearbox. This allows the option of selecting between different types of gear shift: with ‘Sport’ mode engaged, changes of gear are executed even more quickly. The handling is further enhanced by the lowered suspension and Skyhook electronic damping system. The technology is standard on this model and constantly adapts the calibration of the shock absorbers depending on the gear in use and the road surface.
The interior is a mix of carbon fibre, Frau leather and Brightex® technical materials that lend the cabin a graceful sportiness. This guarantees elevated comfort levels.
